Frequently Asked Questions |

How long will it take to paint my gun?
Processing of customer firearms may take up to 4 to 6 weeks
during busy times, but most are completed much sooner. Is
Duracoat permanent?
No finish on a firearm is permanent. Hard chrome is probably
the closest thing to that, but we all know chrome doesn't hide well. In
comparison to the other finishes available, Duracoat is more flexible, more
durable and has better resistance to solvents than the rest. How
soon can I use my newly finished firearm?
Duracoat is a chemically cured firearms coating. You can
take it to the range within a week or so, but you should handle it carefully.
Full cure is achieved in 4 to 6 weeks. We usually suggest that customers
place the firearm in a safe or gun cabinet and forget that they own it for
about a month. Of course, during this waiting period you'll need to take
it out and stare at it and smile occasionally. Will
my paint job look exactly like the website photos?
All photos are only examples of the basic paint scheme.
As every firearm is coated individually, finished patterns will vary slightly.
When ordering, you can choose larger or smaller striping/graphics and when
applying a multi-color paint scheme we can favor one color over the others
to suit your needs. What does the clearcoat
do for my gun? Applying clearcoat after the base
coat does two things. One, it evens out any variations in the sheen caused
by the differences in the colors and two, it increases the life of the finish
thus requiring the clear to be worn away before the color can begin to wear.
